This
is the most important service I provide since it could be a matter
of life or death.
Do you need a sterling trach tube
repaired quickly and to the most exacting standards? As
a traditional silversmith
I can weld cracks, remove dents and sharp edges, repair hinges,
flaps, swivel locks, and flanges. I can reform cannula tubes and add
sterling to the openings of older tubes so they will function for
many more years. I'm an expert using the PUK pulse arc welder
(pictured left). See other objects I've restored with the PUK here. |

The trach above required
splits to be welded and the ends of both cannulas to be built-up with
sterling as they had worn thin.
The trach to the left
required the inner cannula swivel clasp to be reattached. It was
originally riveted but loosened over time and broke off. The tubes
were removed from the face plate and the retainer was welded to the
outer cannula with sterling. Welding is more secure than riveting.
Also, welding won't soften the silver like high-temperature brazing
will. Note: Had the customer requested, the worn tip of the outer
cannula could have had sterling added, leveled, then polished smooth. |
Testimonials
Jeff, I just wanted you to know
what it means to me having a newly repaired tracheostomy tube. For so
many years I searched for a replacement with no success and by fate
and much diligence I found your site. Your site was my godsend
because what you've given to me is not only a newly repaired medical
device but a new lease on my life. I've been speaking using my
fingers to cover my trachea stoma that I almost thought that was
natural but it was not. I had not realized how much of my life I was
missing out on having to focus on not having s properly working
tracheotomy tube. I can now be free to speak with no hands I can hold
my baby and sing to him simultaneously, have a conversation without
having to be self-conscious of someone asking why I'm using my finger
to cover my neck. Most of all the look on my daughters face to have
her mommy just focus on her and not worry about feeling
self-conscious is a gift you've given I cannot repay. You've changed
my life and it may sound overboard but it is fact. Thank you for your
patience, your kindness, dedication and hard work! Mel Madore

testimonials on my main site)
Mel's trach on the right
required the inner cannula swivel clasp to be secured. I enlarged the
head on top of the tubing with sterling so the clasp wouldn't slip
off. The flapper plate's flap was leveled as it wasn't closing
completely, allowing air to escape. I added sterling to the tip of
the outer cannula which had worn thin.
